The agenda for the APPG on Youth Affairs 2009 had an overarching theme of social mobility. The first meeting was held in April 2009 at the House of Commons. Young people, practitioners and policymakers joined Cabinet Minister Liam Byrne MP to discuss social mobility and introduce the topics of following meetings.
- Wednesday 10 March 2010 – Skill development and transitions into employment
- Wednesday 28 October 2009 – Financial support and economic wellbeing, Ministerial response
- 27 April 2009 – Social mobility, Ministerial response
Prior to 2009, the APPG explored issues such as volunteering, young people and social exclusion, anti-social behaviour and young people and decision-making. Meetings in 2008 included:
- Knife, gun and gang crime (Joint meeting with the APPGs on Foyers and Child & Youth Crime)
- Every Child Matters and Disability (Joint meeting with APPGs on Disability, Mental Health, Carers, Childcare, Learning Disability)
- Citizenship and engagement
- Children and Young People’s Bill (Joint meeting with APPG on Children)
